2001 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the tie rod end on 2001 Cadillac Seville?
A: The initial step to work on tie rod ends includes lifting up the vehicle while providing support under it. Start the procedure by taking off the tire followed by the wheel. Begin by uninstalling the outer Tie Rod End retaining nut while you should just loosen the inner Tie Rod End jam nut. You can uninstall the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle using the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B). Detach the outer Tie Rod End from the inner Tie Rod End as the next step. Begin outer Tie Rod End installation to inner Tie Rod End by attaching components but do not fasten jam nut at this stage. Join the outer Tie Rod End with the Steering Knuckle and fasten the outer Tie Rod End retaining nut to a torque of 47 nm then to 35 ft lbs. After resetting the wheel and tire position you should lower the vehicle but make sure the boot of the rack and pinion remains smooth while performing toe alignment procedures.
