2000 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the tie rod end on 2000 Cadillac Seville?
A: Begin Tie Rod End servicing by taking off the hex nylock nut from the outer tie rod assembly and softening the inner tie rod assembly's jam nut. Use the universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-01) to separate the outer tie rod assembly from the Steering Knuckle before splitting apart the outer tie rod assembly from the inner tie rod assembly . During installation connect the outer tie rod assembly to the inner tie rod but leave the jam nut untouched before mounting the outer tie rod assembly to the Steering Knuckle . Thread one end of the nylock nut into the outer tie rod stud and tighten it to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Complete toe adjustment by checking the Rack and Pinion Boot remains untwisted and flat. Afterward, perform the toe alignment procedure. You must tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod assembly until it reaches 30 nm (50 ft. Lbs.) torque.
