2002 Chevrolet Astro Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2002 Chevrolet Astro?
A: Start by putting the parking brake on and blocking the wheels before you replace the master cylinder. Insert rubber safety caps into brake pipe ends when disconnecting them from the master cylinder to stop brake fluid from leaking or getting dirty. Assemble plugs to the open brake pipe ends then unscrew and remove the bolts from the master cylinder. Lower the combination valve bracket to take the master cylinder from the vehicle. Empty all brake fluid from the master cylinder. After removing the master cylinder from the vehicle install a bleed procedure on the bench before replacing it into place. Thread the new master cylinder bolts first and tighten them to 36 Nm. After that connect the pipes to the master cylinder and tighten all nuts to 30 Nm. Complete the brake fluid bleeding procedure at the end.
