2002 Chevrolet Camaro Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How Should the ACDelco P/N-1760 A/C Accumulator Be Installed to the Evaporator Tube on 2002 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: The acdelco p/n-1760 A/C Accumulator needs installation on the a/c Evaporator tube (liquid line) between condenser and Evaporator to remove the requirement for flushing the a/c system. Start the process by recovering all a/c refrigerant. Two marks should be placed 50.8 mm apart (2 in) starting 50 mm (2 in) beyond the first line hanger before the black foam line insulation. After placing the marks correctly, remove the Evaporator tube while ensuring the removal of all metal burrs from the liquid line. Line cutters must be used to divide the liquid line at pre-marked points and burial of all edges must be completed. Secure the Evaporator tube bolt with resistance-to-torque set to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Ferrules and nuts along with o-rings must be removed from the A/C Accumulator while the o-rings need to stay separate. Install ferrules followed by nuts over the liquid line parts beginning with the small ferrule end at the nut before inserting the liquid line into the A/C Accumulator until its bottom position is reached. The technician should bottom out the Evaporator tube within the accumulator while tightening the nuts. Clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil should be used to lubricate o-rings before installing them onto the liquid line. You should reinsert the liquid line into the accumulator until it reaches the bottom first then maintain the line position before tightening the nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Usage of the a/c line occurs after the vehicle drops and the system receives evacuation and becomes charged.
