2002 Chevrolet Camaro Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2002 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: You must empty engine coolant before starting the heater core replacement. Install heater hose removal as the first step before unscrewing the heater core tube clamp bolt and the heater core tube clamp. The next step involves dismantling the heater core by starting with the heater shroud seal followed by the removal of two bolts from the heater rear case then sliding it downward to free the upper case clip. The instrument panel (IP) compartment door needs removal together with the heater core clamp bolts and three heater core pieces. To install the heater core start by positioning it in its place and then attach the heater core clamp before tightening the clamp bolt to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in). Raise the heater rear case vertically until the upper clip snaps into position while the left edge connects to the distributor case. Then install and tighten both heater rear case bolts to 2.0 N.m (18 lb in). Attach the heater core tube clamp on top of the heater core shroud seal while torquing the clamp bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in). Fitting the instrument panel (IP) compartment door along with reattaching the heater hoses completes the installation process.
