  A: The Slip Yoke service process starts with assembling u-joint bearing separator (J 9522-3) and u-joint bearing spacer remover (J 9522-5) as basic tools. The propeller shaft must always remain horizontally supported with no clamps applied to tubing to prevent breakage of components. A complete propeller shaft service kit containing pre-greased spiders, service bearing caps with seals, needle roller bearings alongside delrin round washers and flat washers, and grease along with four retainer rings needs to be used for the installation of external snap ring universal joints in place of the existing nylon injected ring universal joints. The j 9522-3 tool should be used for lower bearing cap removal while supported propeller shaft pointing during disassembly. This procedure shears the nylon injected ring. Application of the j 9522-5 should be used to help extract bearing caps which do not fully separate. The procedure needs to be done again on the other side of the vehicle as well as for any Universal Joint located in the front. Clean the yoke after which examine the dust seals for any damage. Support the propeller shaft and then remove its retainer rings for additional disassembly procedures.
