    The Slip Yoke service process starts with assembling u-joint bearing separator (J 9522-3) and u-joint bearing spacer remover (J 9522-5) as basic tools. The propeller shaft must always remain horizontally supported with no clamps applied to tubing to prevent breakage of components. A complete propeller shaft service kit containing pre-greased spiders, service bearing caps with seals, needle roller bearings alongside delrin round washers and flat washers, and grease along with four retainer rings needs to be used for the installation of external snap ring universal joints in place of the existing nylon injected ring universal joints. The j 9522-3 tool should be used for lower bearing cap removal while supported propeller shaft pointing during disassembly. This procedure shears the nylon injected ring. Application of the j 9522-5 should be used to help extract bearing caps which do not fully separate. The procedure needs to be done again on the other side of the vehicle as well as for any Universal Joint located in the front. Clean the yoke after which examine the dust seals for any damage. Support the propeller shaft and then remove its retainer rings for additional disassembly procedures. The j 9522-3 tool should be used to position one bearing cap partially before aligning the trunnion. Perform steps again for the opposing side of the assembly to check straightness and free movement of trunnions. Check how the needle roller bearing operates before pressing the retainer rings into their place by lightly hitting the yoke. The assembly process should also be performed on the second half of the Universal Joint.

Universal joints need replacement with external snap rings while complete universal joint service kits must be used with one pregreased spider along with four service bearing caps equipped with seals, one needle roller bearing and delrin round washers, delrin flat washers, grease, and four retainer rings. To disassemble the propeller shaft align it with the press base plate then use the u-joint bearing separator (J 9522-3) for removing the lower bearing cap from the yoke ear while also needing the u-joint bearing spacer remover (J 9522-5). The technician should clean the yoke thoroughly then check the integrity of all seals before rebuilding the system. Place the bearing caps in correct trunnion position before using the press to install and seat the retainer rings by lightly striking the yoke when needed. Examine the procedure one more time on the dimension opposite the universal joint for full assembly completion.
