2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Tie Rod End Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the outer tie rod end on 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: The process starts by using j24319-b (J24319-B) universal steering linkage puller to disconnect all tie rod ends. Start your replacement process by removing the front wheel and tire followed by detached outer tie rod ball stud nut before loosening the jam nut. The j24319-b (J24319-B) universal steering linkage puller should be used for removing the outer tie rod ball stud from the Steering Knuckle. Examine the inner tie rod shaft after removing the Tie Rod End from it to identify any bending defects and inspect for damaged threads. Steering Knuckle requires surface cleaning of its tapered portion before starting the installation procedure. The new Tie Rod End should be mounted onto the inner tie rod shaft followed by attaching the outer tie rod ball stud onto the Steering Knuckle. The prevailing torque nut needs to be installed on the outer tie rod ball stud before torquing it to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). The front tire and wheel relocation process should be followed by front toe adjustment and the jam nut requires tightening to 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.).
