  • Q: How to replace the wheel cylinder on 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: Before beginning work on Wheel Cylinder replacement lift and stabilize the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel. Before taking the brake pipe out of the Wheel Cylinder clean all material around its inlet and pilot. Use a rubber cap or plug to seal the brake pipe's peak at the end when you expose it. To begin the Wheel Cylinder replacement, plug the open brake pipe then take out Brake Drum and brake shoes before removing Wheel Cylinder bolts and finally the Wheel Cylinder itself. To install the new Wheel Cylinder follow the fastener notice from service precautions then bolt it in place with 20 nm torque settings. Position the brake pipe on the Wheel Cylinder and torque this connection to 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). Put in the brake shoes then set up the rear drum brakes before placing the Brake Drum. Surface the Wheel Cylinder before letting the brake fluid pass through the complete braking system. Then set up the parking brake system and place the tire after lowering the car.
