2002 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/Pipe on Bank 1 on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Replace the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/pipe on bank 1 by starting with the removal of the check valve clamp following engine cooling to avoid burns. The check valve must first be detached from the Air Hose before unscrewing it from the air pipe. The left air pipe must be detached from its position on the manifold. A new check valve demands a preliminary evaluation that includes attaching a Vacuum Pump to the check valve nipple (AIR pump side) and pumping it to 10 in hg until the gauge shows zero pressure within 5 seconds. This indicates the need for check valve replacement. To install the check valve mount it onto the air pipe while tightening it to 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Position the air pipe onto the Exhaust Manifold before tightening it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Mount the Air Hose to the check valve after which use the check valve clamp for secure attachment.
