2001 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/Pipe on Bank 1 on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The replacement process of bank 1 Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/pipe starts with removing the clamp from the check valve and unclipping the Air Hose from the valve. You must detach the air pipe check valve by unscrewing it before pulling out the left air pipe from the manifold. A Vacuum Pump must be connected to the air pump side of the check valve to check its functionality before replacement. While pumping to 10 in hg, observe the gauge to determine whether a new valve needs installation because proper operation requires a vacuum drop to zero in less than 5 seconds. Attach the check valve to the air pipe followed by torquing it to 23 n.m for installation. The air pipe must be attached to the exhaust manifold while torqueing it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The process ends with attaching the check valve clamp around the Air Hose that reaches the check valve.
