How to replace the positive battery cable on 2002 Chevrolet Express 2500?

The first step to replace the battery positive cable requires removing the retaining bolt from the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank. The battery technician disconnects the negative cable first then proceeds to disconnect the positive cable second. Vehicles with the 6.5l engine require disconnecting the positive lead from the junction block before continuing with disconnecting the positive leads from both the Starter Solenoid and the generator. Extract the cable while making a record of its retaining clips position. When installing the cable carefully direct its path and fix it to the retainer clips. Secure the generator output (BAT) nut to 18 n.m (13 lb ft) when conducting the connection of the positive lead to the generator. Install the positive cable to the Starter Solenoid before securing it with 10 n.m (89 lb in). Install the positive lead to the junction block while tightening its nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in).
