    Q:
How to replace the positive battery cable on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
First remove the retaining bolt of the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank to proceed with positive Battery Cable replacement. Begin by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery then disconnect the positive terminal of the same battery followed by cutting power from the Starter Solenoid and generator positive terminal. You should remove the cable from the vehicle while documenting where the retaining clips are located. The new cable installation requires proper routing and stowing the cable into its retainer clips. Fasten the generator output (BAT) nut to 18 n.m while connecting the positive lead to the generator. Tighten the positive lead to the Starter Solenoid at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Attach the positive Battery Cable to the battery component before securing both terminal connections at 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Then connect the negative terminal cable. Reinstall and fasten the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank by tightening its bolt to 11 n.m (97 lb in).
