Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2002 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The vehicle must be properly supported then raised before starting the Steering Knuckle replacement. Separate the bearing/hub assembly before extracting both components of front lower control arm ball stud and outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle. Scribe the strut to the knuckle prior to removing the bolts and nuts which connect the strut to the knuckle after which remove the knuckle from the vehicle. During installation put the knuckle back onto the vehicle and carefully tighten the bolts which connect the strut to the knuckle to 122 nm (90 ft. Lbs.). Put the outer tie rod into the Steering Knuckle followed by attaching the front lower control arm ball stud to the knuckle while adding the front wheel drive shaft bearing. Lower the vehicle then check the wheel alignment and make adjustments when needed.
