Set the lower Control Arm on a vice before starting the lower Ball Joint replacement work. Use a hammer and a drift punch to strike through the ball stud rivets after grinding away their heads when removing the lower Control Arm. Put the ball stud on the lower Control Arm while testing that the new bolts must face down for safety. This fastener type works under pre-load but you need to replace it when the joint does not generate 2 nm shaft drag against its partner during installation. Place the new ball stud nuts onto their mounting points before you secure them to 68 nm (50 ft. Lbs.) torque setting with the lower Control Arm.
