How to service the tail light on 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

Service of the tail lamp begins by first opening the rear compartment then disconnecting the rear compartment convenience net. Use a screwdriver to remove the upper wingnut securing the tail lamp before pulling the rear trim panel back from the tail lamp assembly. First extract the lower wingnuts (WINGNUT) from the tail lamp before you can remove the lamp from its position within the rear body panel. Begin by turning off the power to the tail lamp then follow the electrical wiring routing notice in service precautions. Twist the tail lamp socket counterclockwise to detach it from the fixture then remove the bulb in the socket. To replace the bulb begin by turning the sidemarker lamp socket counterclockwise then take out the bulb from its socket. Start by putting the bulb into the tail lamp socket followed by the sidemarker lamp socket for installation. First turn the sidemarker lamp socket clockwise before moving on to the tail lamp socket which also needs to be positioned clockwise. You should reconnect the electrical connector to the tail lamp after which you can put the tail lamp back onto the rear body panel. Secure both lower wingnuts (WINGNUT) then pull the rear compartment trim panel away from the tail lamp before installing the upper wingnut (WINGNUT) to the tail lamp. Reinstall the rear compartment convenience net after you close the rear compartment.
