2002 Chevrolet Tracker Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable on 2002 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: The replacement of the hood cable begins with hood support while you elevate it. The process begins by removing the 2 bolts and the hood primary latch located on the front upper panel while separating the hood primary latch release cable from its attachment to the latch. The mechanic wire piece will help remove and install the current cable. You must unclip the cable from where it rests within hold down clips while also taking out the hood primary latch release handle. The mechanic should pull the cable all the way through the body while working within the passenger compartment before removing the device through the opening by pulling on the wire. Affix the mechanic's wire to the new hood primary latch cable before leading it through the body structure by utilizing the wire. The mechanic should unfasten the wire from the cable before installing the hood primary latch release handle. Attachment of the cable begins by connecting it to the hood primary latch and its corresponding hold down clips. Fix the hood primary latch to the front upper panel before securing it with 2 retaining bolts that remain loose at this time. Beyond installation normalize the latch position until both the center groove matches the striker shaft and the front fenders align evenly with the hood surface. Afterward tighten the hood latch retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in) before lowering the hood.
