2001 Chevrolet Tracker Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable on 2001 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Start by lifting the hood before you can replace the Hood Cable. Remove two bolts together with the front upper panel hood primary latch. Then detach the Hood Cable from the latch. Remove the cable from its placement in the hold down clips before disconnecting the grommet from the body. Start by detaching the Hood Cable handle from its position. The mechanic's wire functions as an installation aid by attaching to the cable before pulling it through the body toward the engine compartment for new cable placement. Take wire pliers to extract the mechanic's wire from the cable. The mechanic's wire should guide the new cable through the body during installation. After positioning the wiring, remove it while carefully placing the grommet into its seating position before reinstalling the Hood Cable handle. After securely attaching the cable to the hold down clips you must connect it to the hood primary latch. After reinstalling the front upper panel latch with its 2 retaining bolts leave them loose for now. Complete the adjustment of the latch by directing the striker shaft into the center groove while making sure the hood rests smoothly against the front fenders. When finished secure the Hood Latch retaining bolts at a torque setting of 10 n.m (89 lb in) before lowering the hood.
