Remove the cable from its placement in the hold down clips before disconnecting the grommet from the body. Start by detaching the Hood Cable handle from its position. The mechanic's wire functions as an installation aid by attaching to the cable before pulling it through the body toward the engine compartment for new cable placement. Take wire pliers to extract the mechanic's wire from the cable. The mechanic's wire should guide the new cable through the body during installation. After positioning the wiring, remove it while carefully placing the grommet into its seating position before reinstalling the Hood Cable handle. After securely attaching the cable to the hold down clips you must connect it to the hood primary latch.
