2003 Chevrolet Tracker Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: A technician should begin by raising the hood and adding support for it before removing the 2 bolts which secure the hood primary latch on the front upper panel. The hood primary latch cable needs removal from the hood primary latch followed by unclipping its position from hold down clips and disconnecting its grommet from the body. The second task is to take away the hood primary latch handle. You should connect mechanic wire to the hood primary latch cable to help remove and install it through the vehicle body while ensuring the wire stays in position for future installations. The mechanic's wire should be connected to the new hood primary latch cable before guiding it through the body. Follow these steps to install the hood primary latch handle after reinstalling its grommet when seated correctly. The primary latch cable must be attached to the hold down clips and connected to the hood primary latch. The hood primary latch should then be mounted onto the front upper panel while using its two retaining bolts but keep them loose for now. Use the adjustment feature of the latch to position the striker shaft in the center groove while verifying that the hood surface matches the front fenders. Lower the hood after tightening the hood latch retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
