2004 Chevrolet Tracker Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable on 2004 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: The machinery requires support of the hood followed by removal of 2 bolts together with the hood primary latch from the front upper panel. You need to detach the hood primary latch cable from the hood primary latch before unclipping it from its hold down clips. The body receives separation of the hood primary latch cable grommet followed by removal of the hood primary latch handle. You should use a mechanic's wire to help you pull out and reinstall the hood primary latch cable but remember to keep the wire running continuously through the body. Deroute the mechanic's wire out of the cable path. Challenge the new hood primary latch cable by threading it through the body via the mechanic's wire. After placement of the cable continue by feeding the mechanic's wire out while fitting the hood primary latch cable grommet into the body and validate correct seating. After reinstalling the hood primary latch handle position the cable in its hold down clips then establish the connection with the hood primary latch. The hood primary latch needs reinstallation onto the front upper panel using its 2 retaining bolts without full tightening at this point. Use the hood primary latch adjustment procedure to align the striker shaft inside the center groove of the latch so the hood remains at a perfect distance from the front fenders. Then set the retaining bolts at 10 nm (89 lb in) torque before lowering the hood.
