• Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2002 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: In order to change the Oil Pan, disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable and remove the engine mount struts from the engine. Install the engine support fixture (J34223-B) and lift and support the vehicle. First, disconnect the catalytic converter pipe from the right side of the engine Exhaust Manifold, followed by removal of the A/C Compressor mounting bolts as well as placing the compressor on the side. Drain out the engine oil before removing the frame assembly and the oil level sensor wiring harness connection and the Starter motor. Then remove transaxle brace from Oil Pan and engine mount bracket with the engine mount from the Oil Pan. Take the torque wrench adapter (J 39505) and remove the engine right side Oil Pan side bolts and then remove the Oil Pan and the Oil Pan Gasket. Disassemble the Oil Pan and the engine block and clean the gasket surface before reassembling. Mount the engine mount bracket with the engine mount to the Oil Pan and then transaxle brace, starter motor, and oil level sensor electrical connector. Reinstall the frame assembly, join the catalytic converter pipe to the right side Exhaust Manifold of the engine and install A/C Compressor. Lower the vehicle, remove the engine support fixture (J34223-B), install the engine mount struts into the engine, put oil in the engine, and finally connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
