Place the shock absorber rod in a horizontal position inside the vise when the rod extends completely. Drill a hole at the centerpunch mark using a 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit to enable gas release to a drain container while using shop towels to clean the oil leaks. Using a drill bit along with the centerpunch create a second hole at the middle point of the tube by indented drilling at this mark while shop towels prevent oil leakage. Places the drain pan beneath the shock absorber rods before moving the rod inside the tube to extract all oil while positioning the absorber holes downward.
