How to service and repair a starter motor on 2002 GMC Savana 3500?

In order to service and repair the starter motor, one has to remove first the negative cable of the battery. Undo the shields and starter motor brackets and unscrew the wires of the starter solenoid. Remove the starter motor, and reconnect it and the wires. Lastly, fit in the brackets again and reconnect the battery cable.
