2003 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on 2003 Buick Century?
A: Refrigerant recovery should start before beginning the removal process of air cleaner assembly. First disconnect the accumulator hose by removing its nut after loosening it. Begin by unfastening the a/c compressor hose block fitting nut from the accumulator before you detach the a/c compressor hose. Remove the accumulator bracket retaining bolt followed by the accumulator bracket bolt clamp before extracting the accumulator from its mounting bracket. Before reinstalling the accumulator on the bracket add refrigeration oil before tightening the bolt clamp to 4 n.m (36 lb in). Fit the accumulator into place and mount it with the accumulator bracket retaining bolt while torquing to 4 n.m (36 lb in). After installing fresh o-ring seals to both the a/c compressor hose and accumulator hose installation you should attach the accumulator hose to the accumulator before tightening its nut to 47 n.m (35 lb ft). Secure the accumulator hose using an a/c compressor hose nut which requires torque settings at 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Install the air cleaner assembly, vacuum and refill the a/c system then use the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to check for leaks in the fittings.
