2003 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the starter motor on 2003 Buick Century?
A: Service or repair of Starter motors begins by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery while raising and supporting the vehicle. Start by removing the front lower air deflector panel together with the torque converter covers. Start the process by removing the bat terminal nut of the Starter solenoid along with the positive Battery Cable from the Starter motor and after that remove the s terminal nut of the Starter solenoid and the Starter solenoid wire . Step one requires Starter bolts ((1,2)) to be removed together with the Starter motor itself. Safely mount the Starter motor on the engine before torquing Starter bolts (1,2) to 43 n.m (32 lb ft) while maintaining a finger-tight hold until they settle. Secure the positive Battery Cable along with the solenoid bat terminal nut to the Starter motor while making their connections finger tight. The installation of the Starter solenoid wire should be followed by installation of the Starter solenoid s terminal nut. Both components should be tightened by hand until just snug. Ensure the solenoid bat terminal nut reaches a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in) and the Starter solenoid s terminal nut requires a torque of 3 n.m (27 lb in). After completing the process install torque converter covers followed by the front lower air deflector panel and lower the vehicle before reinstalling the negative Battery Cable.
