Q: How to replace the starter motor on Buick Century?
A: In order to replace the Starter motor, one needs to disconnect the battery negative cable and jack up the vehicle safely. Undoes the frontal lower air deflector panel and the torque converters covers. Remove the positive Battery Cable by taking out the Starter solenoid bat terminal nut , and remove the Starter solenoid wire by removing the s terminal nut . Remove the Starter bolts (1, 2) and use their place remover along with all necessary shims. For installation, it is necessary to make proper use of the correct Starter motor namely, pg260 f1 is used on the 3.1 l engine. Lining up the Starter motor to the engine, reinstall very any shims taken out. Install the Starter bolts (1, 2) finger tighten until they are seated and tighten them to 43 n.m (32 lb ft). Reconnect the positive Battery Cable and install the solenoid bat terminal nut finger tight followed by Starter solenoid wire and installing the s terminal nut finger tight. The solenoid bat terminal nut and the s terminal nut should each be tightened to 9.5 n.m (84 lb in) and 2.3 n.m (20.4 lb in), respectively. Replace the covers for the torque converter and the front lower air defect panel and lower the vehicle, and the last thing is to connect the battery negative cable again.
