Buick Century Battery Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace battery cables on Buick Century?
A: When changing out battery cables, be sure to replace the ones with the same gauge, length, routing, and type of cables as the old ones deserve. Start by unbefriending the battery negative cable from the battery. Second, pull off the battery negative cable bolt and cable from the frame rail at the underhood accessory wiring junction block. Lift and prop the vehicle accordingly. Remove the front lower air deflector, then remove transaxle stud nut and negative cable from the transaxle stud off the bat. Unhook the battery cable retainers from the radiator support and unplug the wiring harness conduit from the retainers along with the battery negative cable from the conduit. For installation, install battery negative cable into the wiring harness conduit and tighten retainers to the radiator support. Mount the battery negative cable and the stud nut of the transaxle to the transaxle stud and tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb. ft). Reinstall the lower front air deflector, lower the vehicle, and connect the battery negative cable and bolt to the frame rail with a bolt and a torque of 8 N.m (71 lb in). Lastly, link the negative battery cable to the battery.
