2003 Buick LeSabre Brake Disc Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Brake Disc on 2003 Buick LeSabre?
A: The brake rotation service process needs to check thickness variation before moving onto lro measurements because large variations may result in brake pulsation. The conical brake rotor washers (J45101-100) should be installed to remove lug nuts that were put in place during lro measurement. The maintenance team should check for external materials or debris along the mating surfaces of hub/axle flange and brake rotor. Position the brake rotor at an alternative index with the hub/axle flange before clamping it tightly in position and securing one conical brake rotor washer (J45101-100) along with a lug nut on the wheel stud that is closest to the top. Apply hand-tightening force to the lug nut before proceeding with the rest of the washer installation. The rotor remains stationary while addition of conical brake rotor washers (J45101-100) and lug nuts onto wheel studs follows a star-pattern with hand torque. Use the torque-limiting socket set (J39544-KIT) to apply star-patterned lug nut tightening to the rotor according to specification until it achieves full securement. To begin with brake caliper installation you must first check the lro measurement of your assembled rotor against the original value then press the brake pedal multiple times to fix the rotor before removing the conical brake rotor washers (J45101-100) and lug nuts. The indexing and measurement procedure should be repeated until reaching the best possible lro assembly result before marking the final rotor position to wheel studs if original orientation changes. Maintenance procedures need to be initiated when the assembled lro achieves measurements beyond its maximum allowed values.
