To discard the suspension strut, make sure that one is wearing proper protective eye wears to avoid hazardous metal chips as one drills. Hold the strut horizontally between the jaws of a vise with rod fully extended. With a 5 mm (3/16 in) drill bit, drill a hole in the centre of the End Cap so that gas or gas/oil mixture can escape through it; use shop towels to absorb the oil that seeps out. After drilling on the strut, take it out of the vise and hold it in a vertical position facing down to the drain pan. Finally, slide the rod in and out of the tube to vacuum out all oil from the strut.
