2004 Buick Regal Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the shock absorber on 2004 Buick Regal?
A: To replace the strut assembly, start by removing the strut-to-body mount nuts and then lift and support the vehicle. Then, take out the tire and wheel assembly, and the stabilizer shaft link from the strut. Take off the bolt from the brake hose bracket and strut assembly and scribe the strut to the knuckle, such that the knuckle is retained after pulling out the strut-to-knuckle bolts in order to prevent damage of the Ball Joint or the wheel drive shaft. In that case, pull out the strut from the vehicle. For install, carefully install the strut into place, and install the strut to knuckle bolts tighten to 120 nm (89 ft. Lbs.). Now, take the bolt and install it to the brake hose bracket to the strut assembly by tightening to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) with the stabilizer shaft link attached to strut. Replace the tire and the wheel along with strut to body mount nuts tightening them to 45 nm (33 ft.lbs). Lastly, lower the vehicle and align the rear wheel.
