  A: Start the generator replacement process by taking off the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery. Position and fasten the engine forward to gain access to the bolts at the rear of the generator. The procedure starts with removing generator b+ terminal nut followed by generator electrical connector and generator b+ lead. Start by removing the Drive Belt from the generator and afterward separate the generator front bolt from the rear bolts. Position the generator above the drive axle after you carefully remove it from the generator bracket. The technician should remove the Drive Belt tensioner and generator bracket before disconnecting power steering pipes from their retainer on the power steering pipe. Reposition the Power Steering Pump in front of the timing chain cover without disconnecting the power steering pipes from the pump after removing the fuel pressure test port (schrader valve) cap from the fuel injector rail. Start by pushing the electrical harness to the side from its retainer on the right fender well before taking out the generator from the vehicle. Place the generator back into the vehicle above the drive axle before installing the electrical harness on the retainer of the right fender well. Reinstall the Power Steering Pump to the engine before installing the fuel pressure test port (schrader valve) cap to the fuel injector rail and the power steering pipes from their position in the power steering pipe retainer. Position the generator onto its generator bracket after installing generator front bolts and rear bolts with 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque. Fasten the generator's front bolt together with its rear bolts so they reach 50 n.m (37 lb ft) of tightness. Reinstall the Drive Belt and the generator electrical connector together with the generator b+ lead before torquing the generator b+ terminal nut to 13 n.m (115 lb in). Rotating the engine to the rear position enables you to install engine mount strut bracket bolts followed by reconnecting the negative cable to the battery.
