• Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?

  A: The first steps are to pull off the Coolant Reservoir, let go of the fuel line pressure, and move the Cruise Control Module and bracket out of the way. Then, take out the left front cross brace, the pcm cover from the air cleaner housing, and the pcm while leaving the electrical connection in place. After that, take out the air cleaner as well as the duct, then the fuel lines and vapor line. Take off the fluid level sensor switch from the Brake Master Cylinder, detach the brake lines, and take out the master cylinder. Remove the wire harness from the bracket of the abs module and take off the electrical connector on the abs module, then pull out the brake lines and remove the abs module along with its bracket. You must have the Brake Pedal held stationary while pulling the push rod off to avoid damaging anything. Start by taking out the clip and washer holding the booster push rod on the Brake Pedal assembly, then pull the Brake Booster push rod out of the Brake Pedal and remove the Brake Booster mounting nuts before removing the Brake Booster. Make sure the cruise control cable is not caught between the booster and the cowl when putting things back together, because this might damage it. Put the Brake Booster in place and attach it to the cowl and mounting bracket, then tighten the mounting nuts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Attach the Brake Booster push rod to the Brake Pedal , put in the retaining washer and clip, set the stop lamp switch in place, and install both the abs module bracket and module. Connect the brake lines up to the module, join the electrical connector to the abs module, and attach the electrical harness to the bracket.
