2003 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake disc on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?
A: Before starting work raise and stabilize the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel first. Push the caliper piston to its side using a c-clamp (J 41a13) and then pull the caliper off the Brake Disc. Keep the hydraulic brake hose safe from damage by holding up the brake caliper with mechanic wire straps. Start by taking off the caliper bracket bolts but keeping the brake flexible hose connected. When the bolts are out you can remove the brake caliper assembly without letting the hose stretch. Position the Brake Disc on the wheel studs to check its fit and then take off the Brake Disc. Clean both hub/axle flange and Brake Disc surface before installation using wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and rotor resurfacing kit (J 41a13). Check if dirt blocks the mating location and apply the Brake Disc to hub/axle flange at its designated position. Check the lateral runout of the Brake Disc when installed on the wheel studs and make needed adjustments when values exceed standards. Place the brake caliper unit back onto the knuckle part and add the tire assembly before lowering the vehicle down again. Last of all, when new brake pads go on or if brake discs were refinished burnish the pads and discs to create a proper breakdown surface.
