- Q: How to replace the Power Steering Hose (LHD) on 2003 Cadillac CTS?A: The replacement process of (LHD) power steering pressure hose begins by setting up a drain pan under the vehicle followed by air cleaner assembly removal and intake air resonator and front air deflector removal. First disconnect the power steering pressure hose retaining nut from the air conditioning compressor before detaching the clip from the hose and finally separating the hose from the Power Steering Pump. First raise and support the vehicle before taking the hose out by disconnecting it from the power steering gear while also removing its mounting bolt. Before tightening the installation process requires loose fitting of the pressure hose together with retainers. The power steering pressure hose installation requires the use of a new seal which must be positioned on the hose before screwing it to the power steering gear. Install the hose fitting to the Power Steering Pump and tighten it to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) until you hear a distinct installation click when the hose reaches full seating. You should first connect the hose to the Power Steering Pump before tightening the retaining nut to the air conditioning compressor and finally complete the installation by tightening the gear retaining bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) and gear fittings to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Finish your work by installing the power steering pressure hose clip then reuniting the intake air resonator assembly with the air cleaner unit and drain the pan while bleeding the power steering system and reinstalling the front air deflector.
