2003 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace a radiator on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: Replacing the Radiator begins with draining the coolant and then uninstalling the Radiator support brackets together with the cooling fans. Secondly raise the vehicle after deleting the two mounting bolts that secure the condenser. The transmission cooler quick disconnect (J 44827) will help disconnect the lower transaxle oil cooler line from the Radiator before using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to remove the lower Radiator Hose from the same component. You should separate the side seals from the Radiator after you remove the lower condenser mounting bolts as well as Radiator side seal push pins. With the vehicle lowered you can remove the Radiator. To install the new Radiator insert it into the insulating frame before tightening all upper condenser mounting bolts to 6.5nm (58inch lbs.) while raising the vehicle repeatedly. Fasten the lower condenser bolts to 6.5 nm (58 inch lbs.) torque specification and insert the lower transaxle oil cooler lines into the Radiator while checking the connections by applying gentle tension to the lines. Use plane clamp pliers (J 38185) to put the lower Radiator Hose onto the Radiator before installing the auxiliary transmission oil cooler line. The side seal pushpin goes into the Radiator while checking all the seals then lower the car after which install the cooling fans and Radiator supports before adding coolant to the system.
