2003 Chevrolet Malibu Power Steering Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir for the CB Series on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Placing the hydraulic pump at a fixed flat surface with shaft oriented upward is the first step to off-vehicle reservoir replacement for the CB Series. A screwdriver will help push the retaining clip tab while moving the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly. You should follow the same procedure to remove the second reservoir clip followed by taking out the reservoir from its place in the hydraulic pump housing. You must discard the O-ring seal either from the reservoir neck or the hydraulic pump housing. The assembly process requires power steering fluid lubrication of the new O-ring seal before installing it on the reservoir neck. Put the reservoir in place on the hydraulic pump assembly while making sure the reservoir neck extends completely. Position the reservoir feet at the hydraulic pump housing sides before using the included retaining clips to secure the reservoir with complete engagement of clips into the hydraulic pump housing.
