The initial steps to repair power steering reservoir begin with placing the hydraulic pump on a stable flat surface which should position the shaft in an upward direction. Use a screwdriver to push the retaining clip tab far from its position while sliding the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly. Follow this procedure twice to remove the second reservoir clip until you can take out the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. Remove and throw away the O-ring seal from both the reservoir neck or from the hydraulic pump housing. Before assembly of the reservoir you should apply power steering fluid to the new O-ring seal and position it properly on the reservoir neck. Begin by fitting the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly with complete insertion of the reservoir neck. Position the reservoir feet along the sides of the hydraulic pump housing before installing new retaining clips which should extend their tabs into the hydraulic pump housing completely.
