Power Steering Pump Reservoir

The replacement process for Power Steering Reservoir begins by setting the hydraulic pump on a steady flat surface with its shaft pointed up. You need to use a screwdriver to push the retaining clip tab outward and you should move the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly. Remove the reservoir clip from one side of the hydraulic pump housing then take the reservoir out of the installation area. Discard both old O-ring seals that are located at the neck of the reservoir or inside the hydraulic pump housing. Before installation apply power steering fluid to the reservoir neck and place the O-ring seal on this spot. Then install the O-ring seal. To install the reservoir on the hydraulic pump assembly it should be positioned so the reservoir neck finds full engagement with the assembly. Position the reservoir feet to match the sides of the hydraulic pump housing and install the new reservoir retaining clips which come with the pump so that the tabs of the retaining clips fully enter the hydraulic pump housing.

The process of removing the Power Steering Reservoir starts by positioning the hydraulic pump on a stationary flat surface with the shaft oriented upwards. A screwdriver goes into the retaining clip tab but the force pushes it out to let the reservoir clip move away from the hydraulic pump assembly. You need to repeat the same process to displace the second reservoir clip before extracting the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. Apply power steering fluid to the new O-ring seal then put it onto the fluid port of the reservoir. Apply the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly with full engagement of the reservoir neck. The reservoir feet must align with the sides of the hydraulic pump housing before installing new clips that come with the pump unit while ensuring each retaining clip tab finds total contact on the pump housing.

Begin reservoir replacement by fixing the Power Steering Pump on a flat stationary surface where its shaft faces up towards the ceiling. Pushing the screwdriver underneath the Power Steering Reservoir retaining clip tabs frees them from the Power Steering Pump assembly before removing them completely from the vehicle. Remove the Power Steering Reservoir from the Power Steering Pump along with discarding its o-ring seal. The installation of the new Power Steering Reservoir o-ring seal requires power steering fluid as a lubricant before fitting it to the Power Steering Reservoir neck. Install the Power Steering Reservoir onto the Power Steering Pump while fully engaging the neck to stop any leaking. Install the Power Steering Reservoir at the Power Steering Pump while correcting its alignment then use the 2 retaining clips to secure the assembly by pressing their tabs into place. The Power Steering Pump installation should conclude with its reinstallation.

Press the reservoir into the pump until the neck is fully engaged with the power steering pump assembly, ensuring the feet of the reservoir align with the sides of the hydraulic pump housing.

Repeat the process to remove the second reservoir clip and then take out the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing.
