How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu?

In order to change the rear compartment lid latch, open the compartment and take note of the location of the latch. Take off the lock cable and, depending, access the remote release cable. Unscrew the electric connector and take away the lock bolts. Attach the new latch assembly, screw-in the bolts, and reattach the cables.
