How to replace the rear trunk latch on Chevrolet Malibu?

The first step to change the trunk latch is to open the trunk and free the lock rod from the cylinder. Unbolt the trunk lid to relocate the latch close to the wiring harness. Disconnect the wiring harness from the latch then take out the entire latch system from the trunk lid. Put the latch assembly into the trunk lid while connecting its wiring connection point. Put the bolts into the latch assembly and tighten them to 10 N.m while setting the lock rod into the lock clip to shut the trunk area.
