How to replace the engine flywheel on 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

The automatic transaxle must be removed as the first step before replacing the engine Flywheel. The Flywheel holder (J 37096) will stabilize the Flywheel so you can proceed with loosening its six engine Flywheel bolts. Secure the Flywheel holder (J 37096) then unscrew all engine bolts except the one which is closest to the top of the Crankshaft. User manual control of the Flywheel lets you loosen its last bolt with caution to prevent Flywheel drop during operation. The removal sequence continues with elimination of the engine Flywheel retainer and Flywheel before cleaning both the Flywheel bolt threads and bolt holes. Begin by placing the Flywheel along with the retainer then apply the six bolts gradually through the Flywheel holder (J 37096) to prevent rotation. The bolts require a torque of 71 nm (52 ft. Lbs.) for installation then the automatic transaxle should be reinstalled.
