How to replace the thermostat on a 3.4L engine on 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

The replacement process for a 3.4l Thermostat starts with air cleaner duct removal and partial cooling system drainage. Apply hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to relocate the hose clamp from the water outlet housing and remove the radiator inlet hose from its position on the water outlet housing. Start by taking out exhaust crossover pipe and water outlet housing bolts until you can remove both pieces together with their gasket component. Eliminate the Thermostat from its position while cleaning the surfaces where the water outlet joins. Start by installing the Thermostat followed by the water outlet gasket and housing before completing installation by tightening water outlet housing bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Ordinary hose clamp pliers (J 38185) will assist in repositioning and clamping the hose to the water outlet housing. The cooling system needs to be filled after reinstalling both the air cleaner intake duct and air duct.
