2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: To replace the Throttle Body assembly, one has to drain the cooling system first. Unbolt the air cleaner intake duct and remove it thereafter, then you would unplug its idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector and throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector. Next, you will take away the accelerator control cable, the bracket, tube inlet, and outlet . Disconnect the heater pipe on the Throttle Body, remove its nut, disconnect the nuts and bolts securing the Throttle Body assembly, then remove the assembly and the Throttle Body Gasket as well. Clean up the Throttle Body Gasket mating surface without the use of any solvent or sharp tools that might scratch up the gasket surfaces. For installation as needed a new gasket and the Throttle Body assembly install it using the nut and bolt with application of 28 n.m (21 lb ft). After finishing the removal, reinstall the Throttle Body inlet and outlet hoses and the heater pipe nut that requires closing to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Connect the iac valve electrical connector and the tp sensor electrical connector, and at the same time, reinstall the accelerator control cable bracket and the air cleaner intake duct. Finally, fill the cooling system.
