    Q:
How to clean the throttle body on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
Cleaning requires removing the air cleaner intake duct followed by pulling out the snap ring and air inlet screen. A thorough inspection of the Throttle Body bore requires the throttle valve to be opened so technicians can check both the Throttle Body bore and the throttle valve plate for deposits. Use the gm top engine cleaner, p/n 1052626 (Canadian P/N 993026) or equivalent solution to remove deposits from the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate while cleaning with a new shop towel. Strong solvents used with immersion cleaners should be avoided when cleaning assemblies which have throttle position (TP) sensors idle air control (IAC) valves and sealed throttle shaft bearings because these compounds can harm electrical components and degrade seals as well as o-rings while also degrading the throttle shaft bearing grease. Using wire brushes or scrapers is dangerous to the Throttle Body components while avoiding methyl ethyl ketone based cleaners. Throttle Body disassembly is needed for cleaning when deposits become too extensive although users should employ a parts cleaning brush that avoids solvent submersion. Install the Throttle Body after cleanup then put the air inlet screen into place followed by the snap ring before securing the air cleaner intake duct.

    Q:
How to replace the throttle body assembly on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin with partial draining of the cooling system in order to replace the Throttle Body assembly. Leave the fuel injector sight shield and intake air cleaner duct. Remove the idle air control (IAC), throttle position (TP), and mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connectors. Next, take off the accelerator controls cable bracket and take apart the electrical wiring harness from the accelerator controls cable bracket. Pull off the vacuum hoses from the Throttle Body, then remove Throttle Body support bracket bolts and the support bracket. Remove the throttle-body nuts and lift off the Throttle Body assembly. Clean out the surfaces of the gasket effectively without the use of solvents or sharp tools that will cause damage. For installation, set a new gasket and then tighten the Throttle Body assembly using Throttle Body nuts of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reattach the Throttle Body support bracket and bolt it up to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Reconnect vacuum hoses, accelerator control cable bracket, and electrical wiring harness back to the accelerator controls bracket. Connect the maf sensor, tp sensor, and nice valve electrical connectors, reinstall the air cleaner intake duct + the fuel injector sight shield. Finally, fill the cooling system.
