    Q:
How to replace the throttle body assembly on Chevrolet Monte Carlo? Posted by Customer
    A:
A replacement of the Throttle Body assembly requires draining the cooling system first. Remove the air cleaner intake duct while disconnecting two components: the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector and the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector. Begin by disassembling the Throttle Body assembly through removal of the accelerator controls cable bracket followed by the Throttle Body inlet and outlet hoses. Start by removing the heater pipe nut at the Throttle Body before using a wrench to remove the assembly with Throttle Body Gasket and securing bolts and nuts. The gasket mating surfaces require inspection after cleaning with caution to avoid any solvent use and strict avoidance of sharp tools that could harm the surfaces. Installation requires new gasket replacement followed by Throttle Body assembly mounting through nut and bolt tightening to 28 n.m (21 lb ft). Next install the inlet and outlet hoses before screwing in and tightening the heater pipe nut to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The next steps include attachment of tp sensor and iac valve electrical connectors followed by bracket install for the accelerator controls and air cleaner intake duct. Fill the cooling system afterward.

    Q:
How to clean the throttle body on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
In cleaning the Throttle Body, first will be to remove the air cleaner intake duct then, the next thing is to pull out the snap ring and the air inlet screen. Examine the bore of the Throttle Body and the throttle valve plate for deposits and throttle valve should be opened for full visibility. When working with assemblies that include the throttle position (TP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) valve, or sealed throttle shaft bearings, do not immerse clean the parts in a strong solvent, since this will damage electrical parts, seals, or o-rings and solvents may cause damage to grease on non-serviceable bearings. Avoid using wire brushes or scrapers as they can pose a threat to the Throttle Body. Do not clean using cleaners with the presence of methyl ethyl ketone, that can damage components. Clean the Throttle Body bore and valve plate using a clean shop towel and gm top engine cleaner, various part numbers:germany, p/n 1052626 / canada, p/n 993026 or equivalent. In case there are excessive deposits, dismantle the Throttle Body and clean it properly with parts cleaning brush not immersing it in any solvent. Reassemble and fix the Throttle Body again, followed by the air inlet screen, snap ring and air cleaner intake duct.
