2003 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor in the Front End on 2003 Chevrolet SSR?
A: To replace the inflatable restraint front end sensor, you should first disable the sir system before the process begins. Do not bump or jolt the sensor, and make sure it is properly attached before you apply power, lest you trigger sir or hurt yourself. Open the hood and hold it up with a prop rod and remove the engine splash shield, radiator support as well as the air cleaner assembly. Pull out the air conditioner condenser and Radiator rearward with caution, placing a wedge to support it. There are tow integral fasteners that hold the front discriminating sensors in place; remove them and remove the front sensor from the vehicle. Discard the electrical connection position assurance, the front sensor and the job holder. For installation, clean the mounting surface from dirt and grease, and attach the electrical connection to the front sensor and the electrical connection position assurance. Tighten the two bolts retaining the front sensor to 8.0 n.m (71 lb in). Carefully lift the wedge that supports the air conditioning condenser and Radiator and reinstalling the Radiator support and air cleaner assembly, followed by the engine splash shield. Put down the hood and turn on the sir system.
