  A: One must disable sir before beginning replacement work on the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Start by opening the hood and using a prop rod to support it while you remove the engine splash shield, radiator support and air cleaner assembly. Use a wedge to maintain rear placement of the condenser and Radiator as you carefully push them back. Free both front discriminating sensor fasteners before removing the sensor unit from your vehicle. Unplug the electrical connection position assurance device together with both electrical sensor connections from the front sensor. Begin with cleaning the mounting surface completely and afterward install the electrical connection that leads to the front sensor then join the electrical connection position assurance . Two bolts securing the front sensor need to be tightened to 8.0 n.m (71 lb in). After removing the wedge supporting the air conditioning condenser and Radiator proceed by installing the Radiator support and air cleaner assembly and finally reinstalling the engine splash shield. Complete hood closure after activating the sir system.
