• Q: How to replace the front air bag sensor on 2005 Chevrolet SSR?

  A: Start by disabling the sir system before outfitting the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Always avoid impacts or sudden movements on the sensor during replacement and make sure the sensor is tightly fixed in place before powering up to prevent sir activation or injuries. Before working start by installing the prop rod below the hood and then take out the engine splash shield and Radiator support followed by removing the air cleaner assembly. Before installation use a wedge to support the air conditioner condenser and Radiator after pushing it back properly. Separate the tow integral fasteners which hold the front discriminating sensors in place while extracting the front sensor from the vehicle. Separate the electrical connection position assurance from the front sensor while disconnecting both components. Before installation clean the mounting surface from all dirt deposits and grease before connecting the electrical components between the front sensor and electrical connection position assurance. Three bolts must be installed to fasten the front sensor while achieving a torque of 8.0 n.m (71 lb in). After removing the supporting wedge beneath the condenser and Radiator, install the Radiator support and air cleaner assembly and lastly reinstall the engine splash shield. After closing the hood activate the sir system.
