2004 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: The first step involves raising the vehicle before beginning ABS Control Module replacement. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the side of the ABS Control Module before opening the electrical connector lock tab on its back using a long flat-bladed screwdriver. The T 25-TORX bit installation process requires clean TORX screw heads because damaged or unremovable T 25-TORX screws necessitate new ABS Control Module and BPMV components. The process to remove the mounting screws begins with using a T 25-TORX bit while ensuring you subject them to only slight pressure which must not involve prying at the ABS Control Module or BPMV. After removal of the ABS Control Module proceed to extract it from its position within the BPMV. The installation process requires fresh mounting screws for the new ABS Control Module since avoidance of all adhesives and other sealing materials on the ABS Control Module gasket and mating area is necessary. The new ABS Control Module must be installed onto the BPMV before installing its four new T-25 TORX screws with a torque of 5 Nm (39 inch lbs.) in an X-pattern sequence. Complete both electrical connector attachments that run along the sides of the ABS Control Module and the one running along the back of the ABS Control Module. Complete the installation by lowering the vehicle then execute the Tire Size Calibration function through the Scan Tool.
