2003 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the alternator on 2003 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The first step for replacing the generator is disconnecting the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery. The engine should rotate and secure forward position to gain access to the rear generator bolts. Start by uninstalling the generator b+ terminal nut before proceeding to disconnect its b+ lead and electrical connector. The generator Drive Belt will need removal before you proceed with extracting the generator front bolt along with generator rear bolts. The generator bracket requires the generator to be carefully removed before placing the unit above the drive axle. Detach the generator bracket and Drive Belt tensioner before pulling out the power steering pipes from their retainer on the power steering pipe. You should remove the fuel pressure test port (schrader valve) cap from the fuel injector rail while keeping power steering pipes attached and position the Power Steering Pump in front of the timing chain cover. The generator removal process starts with placing the electrical harness aside from the right fender well retainer and then removing the generator from the vehicle. Add the generator into the vehicle above the drive axle then connect the electrical harness to its retainer installed on the right fender well. The Power Steering Pump mounting should proceed the fuel pressure test port (schrader valve) cap installation to the fuel injector rail before securing the power steering pipes from the power steering pipe retainer. Position the generator so you can place it onto the generator bracket which has already been attached with the Drive Belt tensioner. The front generator bolt along with rear bolts must be fastened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reinstall the Drive Belt and generator electrical connector with the generator b+ lead while torquing the generator b+ terminal nut to 13 n.m (115 lb in). Engage the engine rear after you install the engine mount bracket bolts and secure the battery ground (negative cable to the battery unit.
